The International Conference on "South Khorasan, Transit & Development of Eastern Corridor” invited ambassadors of neighboring countries to attend the conference. The letter of invitation was sent by the governor of South Khorasan province to ambassadors of CIS and neighboring countries on 20 March 2012.

Engineer Ali Nikzad, The minister of Road and Urban Development invites CIS counterparts and international organizations to attend the International conference on "South Khorasan, Transit & Development Of Eastern Corridor’’ . The letter of invitation was sent to 25 invitees, to whom Iran has bilateral relationships.

South Khorasan Governor General's Office in Partnership with the University of Birjand , the Secretariat of Free and Special Economic Zones, Ministry of Road and Transportation and with the Cooperation of Organizations and Ministries members of the Council for the Development of Eastern Corridor of Iran

Conference Objectives:

1. A survey of the effects and impacts of the development of the Eastern Corridor Transport Development intended to guarantee sustainable security and development and securing all legal measures and executive solutions for national and regional plans.
2. Elaborating the significance which is attached to the investment potentials available in the Eastern transit corridor aimed at making best use of Iran’s geo-strategic and geo-economic status for the purpose of reinforcing international transactions and foreign trade.
3. Elaborating the status and key role of South Khorasan (Birjand) as the strategic corridor of the east and conducting feasibility studies in order to evaluate the possibility of converting this region into a regional economic hub.
4. Examining investment potentials and infrastructures required by the astern corridor by laying special emphasis on plans for the development of this corridor and South Khorasan in general within the 2025 perspective.

Conference Features:

• Provision and presentation of selected articles relevant to the 9 main and 8 secondary axes of the conference.
• Speeches to be delivered by the officials in charge as well as local and foreign attendants.
• Arrangement of specialized meetings in the presence of representatives of major players of the transit sector from international organizations and private sector.
• Arrangement of a festival dealing with the selected B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees theses relevant to such subjects as transit, eastern corridor and development of South Khorasan province.
• Organizing of specialized and educational workshops in the presence of local and foreign experts.
• Organizing of “Transport and Transit” specialized exhibition.
